Solid Gold Puppy Food - WolfCub (Bison) Dry Review

High energy diets, like most puppy foods, can promote rapid growth in large breed puppies, which can play a role in the development of orthopedic diseases. WolfCub Large Breed Puppy Formula contains a lower amount of protein, fat, and calories than Hudnchen Flocken Puppy Food to help  control the growth process. Research shows that a Calcium level of 1.5% or less is the most suitable for a large breed puppy.

How I Trained My Pit Bull Puppy

My pit bull puppy was born last December, she's now eight months old. but, I didn't wait until now to start training her. I started from the time she started walking. She started walking at around two months old, but, I didn't start to train her until three almost four months old, that is  when I really started training her. She was still feeding from her mother at that time. I started training her by separating her from her mother and only letting her be near her mother when it was time to feed her, than at four months I stop letting her feed on her mother and started giving her puppy food.

Before that I would leave her with the mother for about an half hour after feeding so that they could bond, and play, and also to help keep her clean because, her mother would lick and clean her pups with her tongue. At that age usually after they've eaten they just wanted to go to sleep mostly. I would let her sleep next to me on the floor most of the time after that. Her mother would always know when I have one her pups because, she watch them very closely whenever someone picks one up she was very protected of them, as any mother would be. When she sees that I'm not hurting her she's OK with it because, she has more pups to attend to.

After training your pit bull puppy where to poop! it's now time to train them on other things as well, like how to obey you .things like "come here, stay, sit, stop, jump, rollover", and just to come to you no matter what they see outside, and just to learn their name when you give a command like "come, and stay" they should know that you're talking to them, and they should come running every time you call them. My pit bull puppy will come to me if I just snap my fingers without saying a word, and she knows when she have done wrong just by the way I look at her. Teach them to come, and stay, that is very important because when you're outside you don't want them to run across the street whenever they want to.

Product Review: Purina Puppy Chow

Purina Puppy Chow was purchased by a member of my household for our latest addition; a little female mini dachshund. My daughter fell in love with this puppy and since she had been looking for a female to mate with her male in the future, this little gal came home with us! My daughter  named her Anna Belle.

My daughter decided to feed Purina Puppy Chow in beef flavor, which she found in the pet section at our local Walmart for Anna Belle. One of her concerns was the price factor. Purina Puppy Chow fit into her budget.

Four Questions to Ask Before Getting a New Puppy

If you are looking for a puppy you might want to ask some questions before you buy one. Now some of the questions that you will want to ask are fairly straightforward and you might not even think about before purchasing because you already asked. However, some questions that you might not  think about asking are here to help your new puppy adapt to you and your family.

One of the first questions that you might ask even if you thought of it is how big will this puppy get. Now you will think that since the puppy is small it will not be a large dog when it gets old. However, even my English Mastiff puppy started off at about fifteen pounds when I purchased her and she grew to weigh over one hundred pounds.

The next question that you will want to ask when you are looking into puppies is how much exercise they will need. Some puppies will not need a lot of exercise or it is not even recommended for the breed because of the bones growing. However, some breeds will need so much exercise you will need to become a marathon runner to keep up with them.

Puppy Begs for Food

This is my pomeranian, Christian Dior...actually he's not a puppy anymore, he's three years old. But he still looks like a puppy, so that's what I call him :) For a long time, I was very adamant about people not feeding him "people food," needless to say friends and family ignored my wishes when Christian would put on the cute-greedy-dog act. So now he's got a taste for it and will beg. His breeder told me to be mindful of his portion sizes when feeding him [dog food] because "He wants to be ...

How to Switch Your Dogs Food

You know that your new puppy is starting to get bigger and it will not be long until he is on adult dog food. Now you also know that you will need to take some steps to assure that he transitions over to the adult food properly. So you will want to make sure  you take several steps first to assure that the transition goes smoothly.

The first step that you will want to take while preparing to transition your dog to some new dog food is to find the food that you want your dog to eat. Now this could be the same brand of food that your puppy is currently on or a different brand. I know with my dog I transitioned him to the same adult food brand for a little while then I transitioned him to a different brand of dog food. After you determine what brand of dog food you're going to transition to you will want to purchase that brand of dog food.

The second step that I took while transitioning my dog to adult food was I would put his puppy food in his bowl then mix in a small amount of the new adult food each day. After about a week I would gradually increase the amount of adult food in his bowl. I would repeat this process every week until he was getting about equal amounts of puppy and adult food. Then after he had been getting equal amounts of puppy and adult food for a while I would take and gradually reduce the puppy food amount.

Introducing Puppies to Puppy Food and Water

Weaning Puppies

Puppies grow so fast. One day the tiny, newborn pups which spend all of their time cuddled to their mother sleeping or nursing. The next they are learning to stand on all fours and are beginning to walk. Before you know it the puppies are little dogs, running and playing, chewing on  everything and ready to wean.

At around six weeks of age puppies gain the ability to lap up their fluids. However, they are still dependant on nursing for nutrition. At this time fresh water can be offered in a large shallow pan. Puppies need to practice lapping up their fluids at this age as they will soon be ready to wean.

After the sixth week puppies can be offered a weaning supplement. This is a powder which comes in a can just like a baby formula. All you do is add the right amount of water to the powder and serve. Weaning supplements can be found at your local farm store, or at the pet store. It will provide the nutrition of mothers milk to the pups as they are beginning to wean. Fresh water should be given separately.

Items Needed Before Bringing Home a New Puppy

Adding a puppy to your family is very exciting. However, it's not something you want to do on a whim. Puppies are very much like babies and need quite a few items to be comfortable. I have compiled a list of items I suggest you have on hand before you bring your new friend home.

Puppy food - check with the breeder about what they have been feeding the puppy. If you decide you don't want to use the same brand, you at least need to have some of the kind the puppy was eating to blend in the kind you want to use. An abrupt change from one dog food to another will upset puppy's tummy and lead to messes on your carpet.

Food and water bowls - something heavy puppy can't easily tip over. Also the easier to clean, the better so stainless steel is a good bet. Change puppy's water frequently or I suggest you buy one of those water fountains with a tank. This gives the puppy fresh water constantly and you only have to fill it about once a week.
