New Puppy Care and Puppy Housetraining Tips

���� Bringing a puppy into your family can be a wonderful experience with careful planning. It is very important to prepare your home for�the puppy before you bring him home by removing all of the things that could be dangerous to him. As you puppy proof your home it is a good  idea to get down on the floor where the puppy will be and look around from his eye level. Stairs, electrical cords, and many houseplants are some of the things that could seriously� hurt the puppy.

���� As soon as you bring the puppy home, it is important to call your veterinarian and make an appointment to have the puppy examined. Your veterinarian will probably want to start his vaccinations and de-worming at this time. The puppy will need a series of three distemper shots which should be given at six, nine, and twelve weeks. He will also need a rabies shot at twelve weeks.� If you are concerned about flea prevention for the puppy, your veterinarian can help you choose a product that safe to use on puppies.

���� The puppy will need a nutritious puppy food for the first year of his life. Be sure that the food that you choose states on the label that it is 100% balanced nutrition for puppies. It isn't necessary to add any vitamins to his diet if you choose a high quality puppy food. Clean water should be available for the puppy to drink at all times.
